Steelwork Design Services

At BH-F it has always been our intention to provide a complete
solution to the conditioning of glass.
It is a well-known fact that we supply Working Ends (Refiners)
and Forehearths (Feeders) for this purpose.
It is not so well known that BH-F can design and supply the supporting steel
plus platforms (catwalks), stairs and hand railing as a package
to complete the engineering solution.

The capabilities of 3D modelling.

To this end we invested in a 3-D structural steel design system and
an interactive finite element software package.
This allows us to design a structure in wire frame form in 3-D,
pass it to the special purpose finite element package to check
the loading characteristics and when all the correct criteria are met
send it back to complete the design stage in solid 3-D form
including fully structured joints. From the model we are then able to generate
Isometric Assemblies fully labelled and viewed from any direction,
full Bills of Materials including Bolting Lists,
2-D Elevations in any direction, Sections at any location and
full 2-D Manufacturing Details.

When the model is complete it is a true representation of the finished structure
which means that all necessary holes with bolts are drawn in their correct location
which in turn are accurately positioned in the detail drawings,
eliminating the risk of holes in the wrong place.
When designing new structures many things have to be taken into account.
For example if a deep refiner is being replaced by a new BH-F 400 series Working End
(which is normally shallower), much of the existing supporting steel can be retained
with new steel structures designed to suit the different levels.
This results in a less expensive (cheaper) installation.
We pride ourselves at BH-F in designing for our customer's needs and each case is
individually assessed to achieve the most cost effective solution.

Within the 3-D system the following national steel standards are provided:

Malaysian
United Arab Emirates
Australian
Canadian
Chinese

These enable us to design and supply for local manufacture, or
if the customer prefers purchase himself.
Other steel specifications can be considered providing
full details are obtained prior to commencement of the design.
